First of all, let us thanks to Allah SWT, because of the grace, we can be here without any trouble and obstacle. Secondly, may peace be upon our great prophet Muhammad SAW who has guided us into the right ways of life.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It’s a great honor to me, to stand here, to say something about education.

Many people agree that education is very important. Moreover, Al-Qur’an says that we can increase our degree by education. But the question is “ Does everybody work hard enough to send their children to school?” Unfortunately, they don’t. As we know in society, there are the rich and the poor. It is normal if the rich go to good schools to the highest level of education. But it is so ironic that there are parents with good financial condition refuse to send their children to the highest level of education for some reasons, one of them is because they think that they already have a good job for their children. So, they think college education isn’t needed. What about the poor? Most poor parents-students use their poor – being condition as an excuse. They think that college education for the poor is a waste of time and money. They choose to use their free time for helping parents and use their money ( if they had ) to daily needs.

I personally believe that education is a way to rise up against poverty. As everybody knows that knowledge is an unburnable wealth as money is. It is more sensible to get out of poverty when we get a good job by having a good education rather than hoping God to win us 1 million lottery. Good education enable us to have a better mind-set, a more positive way of thinking, better ethos to find strategy, etc. Generally, education change many things and give more chances.

But my dearest audience,

Still many poor yet smart students, don’t dare to dream as they can’t find a way to reach the star. “ Why should they think so ?”, Government now are very enthusiastic to help them to continue their study to college. Government provide “Bidik Misi” scholarship which give full scholarship to 20.000 students. The scholarship includes semester fee, practical fee and pocket money of Rp 500.000 per month. The scholarship is given from the first semester until they finish their college. Beside that scholarship, there are still many other scholarship from companies. Etc. So, I think there’s no reason for students to discontinue studying.
